Kelly Rowland on Beyonce: She Was My Only Friend

Kelly Rowland may be enjoying her independence as a solo artist, but there was a time when the R&B star had to lean on her fellow Destiny’s Child groupmate.

Despite constant rumors pitting them against one another, the “Grown Woman” says she and Beyoncé have remained friends. “We were always civilized,” she tells Entertainment Weekly. “That’s what I’m most proud of. From the rumors to the lawsuits to false accusations, it was really tough.”

Even when legal issues arose with former members LeToya and LaTavia, the two stayed close. “We were strong because we had each other,” she tells the magazine. “There were times when I couldn’t even be strong enough, so I had B. She was the only thing I knew. She was my only friend.”

As for the Destiny’s Child reunion that her former manager Mathew Knowles shut down, Kelly says she would be open to it “if the fans wanted it to happen.”

Rowland also admits in the article that her former label Columbia Records dropped her and it was not a mutual split as the press release stated. “In all honesty, they let me go. The records that I put out probably didn’t perform as well as maybe they wanted them to,” she reveals. “We live in an industry where you’ve got to bring in money. You can’t be pushing out so much money and not bring anything back. I get it.”

Kelly Rowland’s self-titled third solo album is due September 21 on Universal Motown, featuring the singles “Commander,” “Grown Woman,” and “Rose Colored Glasses.”

Things are NOT looking good at all, especially considering her new single was sent to radio for adds yesterday and its already lost 3 spins. With RCA appearing to have completely stopped promoting after her massive first-week promotional campaign, it appears things can only get worse. Can anyone explain why Christina has yet to step a foot in large markets like the UK, Japan, and Australia to PROMOTE the album?

Queen Latifah on Chris Brown: "We Need To Stop Beating Him Up

Queen Latifah has spoken out in support of singer Chris Brown.

The 40-year-old singer and actress hosted the 10th Annual BET Awards, where Brown performed a widely-praised medley of Michael Jackson songs.

She told The Dish Rag: "I thought Chris Brown's performance was amazing, just amazing.

"Not only was it a knockout performance, but his heartfelt emotion ... you can't plan that, you can't write that, it's just truth."

As well as commending his performance, the star suggested that it is time that people forgive Brown.

"The guy is a young guy and he made a big mistake and he needs to bounce back from that. And he needs an opportunity for a second chance," she said. "We can't condemn that kid. He's a kid and he needs to correct the mistake for the future, not live in the past.

"He needs to be forgiven. Enough already. We can't keep beating him up. [Rihanna's] going to grow and he's going to grow and we have to allow them both to do that."

Latifah recently released the book Put On Your Crown, which aims to help young women to build a strong sense of self-esteem.

Breakout star, Ke$ha, who is set to open on Rihanna's 'Last Girl on Earth Tour' this summer had some choice words for her naysayers, haters, and people in general who don't respect her. Peep what she had to say below.


Ke$ha, who burst on the scene with the drunken party anthem "TiK ToK," wants you to take her seriously.
Seriously.
The pop singer, who is one of the year's top-selling artists and arguably the most successful newcomer, hasn't been recognized for her artistic talents. Instead, she's been bashed for what some see as her vapid lyrical content and party-girl vibe.
But the 23-year-old thinks she has been misrepresented.
"I'm responsible. I wouldn't have a No. 1 record or song if I wasn't a hardworking person," she said in a recent interview backstage before a festival performance.
"People say 'party girl' and instantly you think: DUI, drug problem, (privates) out, no underwear, going to nightclubs every night. Problem. I'm none of the above," she continued.
Ke$ha's not interested in controlling the public's opinion of her, in any case. She's hard at work on where her career is going. And — like her or not — her career is heading in a promising direction.

"There are things that are said on television that are way more dramatizing like violence and sex and a lot of things need to be explained in a grown-up world to little kids. I hope none of them go around drinking Jack Daniels for breakfast," she added.
Though Ke$ha is unapologetic about her image, she admits she's not always able to dismiss the negative attention: "It can bum you out when your intentions aren't, like, translated properly."
Sharon Dastur, the program director at New York City's top pop radio station Z100, says now that Ke$ha's produced more hits, people are giving her chance, and seeing her done up nicely helps them get past her sometimes sloppy demeanour.
"People go, 'OK, she's not the girl with the hair in her face with the glitter with the Jack Daniels bottle in her hand. She cleans up nice,'" Dastur said. "She's just evolving as her music continues to come out."

"People told me, 'You shouldn't be singing,'" she said. "I went through awkward, chubby, total weirdo phases. I was in a marching band. Did you ever think a little, (expletive) chubby, awkward girl with braces in the marching band would be No. 1 on top of the pop charts? No, you wouldn't."
Ke$ha overcame doubters then — and she plans to do it again.
"People will start to respect me as a writer," she said. "Look at the charts, honey. ... As annoying as you think I am, I'm not going anywhere, so you might as well get used to it."

Kesha loves fat men. The Blah Blah Blah singer - who is currently single - admits she has a less-than-traditional taste in men and can't stand the thought of dating someone too well-groomed.

She said: "My ideal man would be funny and fat with a beard. I love fat men. I like real men. I don't like really feminine men who tan. I don't understand that. I like a funny man, though. Russell Brand's not quite my type, but if he had a fat, bearded friend, that would be perfect."

The outspoken 23-year-old star also admitted her biggest turn off would be to date someone who spends longer in the bathroom than she does.

She told heat magazine: "I could not bear to go out with a guy who takes longer than me to get ready. I don't want someone who's going to steal my moisturiser."

Though she has a lengthy list of specifications for a partner, Kesha insists she isn't ready to settle down just yet.

She said: "I'm far from lonely. Far, far from it. But I don't want to settle down yet. Gross!"

Eminem is predicted to sell more than 1,000,000 copies worldwide in his first week. Congratulations to Eminem! The 'Recovery' LP is certainly an excellent album, deserving of all its success!

According to HitsDailyDouble, "Can't Be Tamed" opens at #3 with 106, 553 copies in the first week. It seems like Miley has lost her core audience, her younger teen fanbase, due to her new sexualized, more adult image. The album has also fallen out of the top 10 on iTunes. And with her single "Can't Be Tamed" not doing much on the Hot 100, it seems like album sales are only gonna drop. Can Miley turn the album, her image, and career around before its too late?

Christina Aguilera's 'Bionic' breaks another record...

The records don't stop for powerhouse vocalist new album 'Bionic'. In the UK, the album fell 16 spots from #29 to #45 on the Official Top 75 Album Chart. This makes 'Bionic' the shortest stay for a #1 album for an album of all time. Hopefully Christina can turn this record around. But im doubtful she can, with "I Hate Boys" being scheduled as her next single. To date the album has sold about 40,000 copies in the UK to date. In other Christina Aguilera news, director Hype Williams is set to direct the video for her 2nd official single "You Lost Me", which was sent for adds on radio today. Williams is especially famous for videos like "Disturbia", "Irreplaceable", and "Video Phone", but he still has yet to top his best work to date, "Rock The Boat".
